Stereotypes

People all over have their own philosophies of life. These ideologies they form may be influenced by others or......may be not. Well today’s youth are supposedly more mature, more tolerant, open minded owing to the higher amount of exposure to knowledge. Well in spite of this exposure some people prefer to stick to stereotypes that they might have formed owing to societal views on a certain subject. For example let us look at the use of marijuana, although so many facts are readily available on the net and from myriad other sources, people still look at marijuana users as drug addicts, people who are sick who need urgent help. Well guess what, much to their dismay there’s no such thing as a marijuana rehab. No matter how exposed or rational people claim they are today they are smitten by stereotypes, some due to ignorance, others out of choice. "Then why have they banned it " is probably the 1st question that you’d get, counter that and "but still.......its bad for you" is probably what follows. The logic is simple he’s obviously a user and quite obviously he would defend himself. True, but not all users are fools just smitten by the hoopla, some are into vices out of choice. Well let’s take another example we make claims about being open minded and say boldly prostitution should be legalised for whatever reasons. But would any one of us be supportive had a friend or family member taken this up as a career, wouldn’t we bitch about them behind their backs ......or..... may be treat them as social outcasts? I sure would. The problem is most people flinch at the very thought of change, yes man is repulsive to change be it Change in ideas, change in lifestyle or any change that he considers uncomfortable but hey change is part of evolution. They say stagnation is the 1st sign of death and yet we love stagnating...living in our own lil comfort zones. Imagine what the world would be like had we not evolved...yeah we'd be rubbing sticks for hours to start a fire. I call this the irony of life. History shows us that man is the most adaptable creature, that’s exactly why he is found on every corner of this damn planet and yet he resists change. I guess hypocrisy is just a part of human nature but identifying, accepting and atoning is really one of the few things that can help make this world a slightly better place, what say?

Of wolf and man.

Well lets talk about the purpose of man on earth. Well I'm not really sure about his purpose here. May be domination is one. You know dominate anything and everything that comes in his way. Right from animals to nature to even fellow men. As rightly said man in an intelligent being, well he has devised many ingenious ways to try and overpower his fellow men. The apparent reason for this is power i believe, yes power, who doesn't like to be in command, see the world at their feet. He created various channels like religion, casteism, racism, politics etc in order to aid this diabolic plan of world domination. He said he is superior to you, said that the gods told him that and most of us bought it. For ages various casts have dominated, men dominated women, the rich dominated the poor etc etc. The truth was concealed, we started living a lie, people who presented it the best were the ones who were successful. He also created various rules for society to abide by, which was again forced on u. All rules are forced on you, thats why they are rules. Ok one day you finally conquer the world....then what? Besides utter chaos i don't really see any other aftermath. Cauz each one of us thinks we are superior than the other, don't we? may be on different grounds may be language, educational qualification, wealth, power blah blah but we do. TO add insult to injury we make a mockery of the so called lesser mortals. I dont see why cant we just accept that each one of us is just "DIFFERENT" and no 1 is really inferior or superior. In the end were all mortals aren't we. As rightly stated in some poem "The scepter and crown must tumble down, and in dust be equal made with the poor crooked scythe and spade" . Instead of wasting time trying to dominate each other why don't we really strive to make the world a better place. Do you know in our endavour to survive each one of us unintentionally causes some one else to compromise. How you ask? well lets look at taxes for example. well of course we pay taxes, but given the option you'd rather avoid it, wouldn't you? Excuse: Life is expensive, i need the money to sustain myself/family blah. Well u don't pay taxes because u had an option of shrugging off your responsibility and some one somewhere suffers. Even the most ethical business magnates earn their bread and butter at the cost of some one else, directly or indirectly, think about it. Although they may try to make up by trying to fulfill their social responsibility by growing a couple of trees here and there or starting some expensive schools and stuff but that doesn't really absolve them of the damage caused. Well having said all of this i guess thats natures basic rule "Survival of the fittest". Inspite of all the so-called intelligence man has, i believe animals live a better life.

Time

"Ticking away the moments that make up the dull day, I fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. Waiting for some one or something to show me the way. I am young and life is long and there is time to kill today and then one day I find ten years have gone behind me, no one told me where to run, I missed the starting gun. So i run and i run to catch up with the sun but its sinking, racing around to come up behind me again. The sun is the same in a relative way but I'm older, shorter of breath, one day closer to death". The above lines by Floyd seem to perfectly portray my life's current scenario. Pandemonium seems to have crept back into my life, i had rid myself of it three years back when i CHOSE to pursue BMS, or so i thought. Everything seemed according to plan, life was right on track. Three years of BMS, another three years of work and finally an MBA from some university in Scotland (which is weird, considering I'm an Anglophile) and I'm set for life. Now unfortunately these universities in Scotland want three years of relevant experience. Well so whats the problem?, u ask......finding a job that provides you with the requisite RELEVANT experience ........These days we hear politicians ranting about how jobs in India are increasing by leaps and bounds, well have we stopped to think of what nature are these jobs? After pursuing a degree in management the least u expect is an appropriate job. BMS being one of the few professional courses offered by Mumbai university, one would expect to have an apparent edge over their B.com/B.sc/B.A counterparts (with all due respect to them) but so isn't the case. Its something like what u engineers would probably feel on seeing them B.Sc IT students grab packages as hefty as yours in spite of that one year extra that you invested. Well enough said, now i guess i should get back to listening to Floyd on the new mp3 player that this "graduate" bought with his parents money.

A Country Full Of Prudes...

The ruckus over a gere peck on the shilpa cheek, which is being branded as an un-Indian act and a kiss, is actually neither. For one, a kiss , is different from a peck and technically speaking lips have to meet. And about being un-indian, well, the oldest refrences to kisses are found in Indian texts, and according to some research, the kiss itself could very well be india's contribution to the world.

According to some research done by some history freak, first references to kissing appered in the vedic texts of 1500 BC. Even the mahabharata has mention of it and of course, you know what the kamasutra is all about, dont u?
But tell that to Pawan Surana, ex-head of rajasthan women's commission (i think it should be called rajasthan prudish women's commission), who says "No indian woman should have tolerated this", or to Poonam Chand bhandari (damn fame seeker), a jaipur advocate who moved court against Gere-Shilp for indecency.

Just what the fuck are these people up to? Are they trying to rebuild an archaic Indian morality on the debris of a once liberal culture? yes, seems like the answer.
Seriously just who the fuck are these people who call themselves moral police. They are just a bunch of lifeless prudes who raise their heads over non-issues like men and women holding hands, or couples kissing.....or even spending quality time in the park. These people are actually india's lunatic fringe.

Are'nt there more serious issues out there? I really don't see why political groups react in such a violent manner, i really don't see their point. I mean yeah its offensive and ooooh so hurting when couples hold hands in the park or kiss...but its really fine when cops go raping young girls isn't it? These nincompoops let the issue settle down once they've had their 15 seconds of fame.
Also the oooh so innocent prudish plebs of our society, the older...supposedly more experienced and understanding generation, support these bunch of thugs.....whereas after creating a racket its these very thugs who indulge in eve teasing or may be even rape.
So yes....unfortunately it is a prudish, hypocritical country we live in, and it has become second nature for Indians to voice their paltry opinion on everything under the sun. People who make moral judgments should judge their own character first.

They won!!

No, its not some sport i am talking about here....its about this situation i encountered a while ago. I was driving home and on my way home i took a left turn, i hear this big thud, i look back and see these two guys lying on the road with their scooter next to them. For a few seconds i was in a state of pandemonium, i pull over ahead only to realise this fuckin ass rammed my car, my beautiful white shiny car with this scooter which is no better than a relic. I was agitated and was confident that it wasn't my fault so i confidently walk towards them in a fit of rage in order reprehend but before u know it, tables turned this mob of say 6-7 guys beset me, they gave me this nefarious look. One guy raises his hand to strike me, the other guy who "SEEMED" rational stopped him and insisted that we have a dialogue first, it seemed ok to me because i was sure it wasn't my fault.

Then he starts his weird explanations as to how it was my fault. I start to retaliate and explain to him that it could not be my fault as he rammed into me on the left, and i had given a clear indication of my intent to turn. Then another blithering idiot from the crowd rants "Im a driver too, you should have shown your hand before turning". That was it i lost my cool i told the asshole that the driver of a four wheeler in INDIA is always seated on the right, and it was not possible for a person driving to show his hand through the left window. He insisted i should have looked back to see if there was traffic before turning. Well i believe a driver is normally supposed to look in the front while driving, isn't he? or have the rules changed? is that the reason for the ever increasing soar in road accidents?

Well finally i guess they were out of silly excuses and other sort twaddle, so it was time to use their final weapon.....violence......so they start with a threat, they say concede or we beat the crap out of you. Well now i was shitting bricks, i didn't quite like the idea of getting beaten up by a mob of 6-7 uncouth thugs. One guy suggested i at least take the injured to a hospital. The injured guy on the other hand refused the offer and insisted that i cough up 200 bucks. Well i some how managed to set the deal for 100 bucks. I paid him and walked off.

The moment i got back into the car i felt miserable, i learnt that in this world evil wins unlike in the stories u heard when u were a kid, or the movies we see. In the real world its survival of the violent and influential. Justice does have a place though on this deluding planet, too bad that place is a thick book probably collecting dust.

Is there really a god?

Well almost every day of our lives we worship god, rather statues. We consider them as a symbol of "The supreme creator" the holy one. Well does god really exist is a question that most of us with faltering faiths face today. Specially in todays world where evil is victorious. Well, personally i feel there is quite some substance to the theories of atheism.

During evolution man stumbled across certain forces of nature that he found were unconquerable. He started fearing and worshiping these forces, hence we hear the term "GOD FEARING". Slowly different stories evolved around these forces thus we have different religions today. Apparently enough, different cults came to be formed based on these tales that they created and passed down as legacy.

Well ever asked your self this question? Why do you believe in the god you do? The answer is obvious, because you were born into that religion. Your parents thought you about a particular god and hence u believe that he exists, he is your creator. Right from the time you were born you have seen your parents, families and friends perform various rituals, ceremonies etc, sadly you were not mature enough to think or question why and hence you fell victim to this malady plaguing the universe.

Well if he does exist i have a few questions. Why does evil always win? If he is all so powerful and mighty, why cant he put an end to the reign of evil? Why do innocent people bear the brunt of acts they haven't committed or things they've never done?

Then there are some smart alecs who defend his existence by questioning fellow atheists about, who then created the world? well why haven't they ever though of who then created god? According to me god is something we use to "try" and rationalise the irrational. We have never thought about the bondage or mental stagnation that this god brings about. If a god or religion claims something to be wrong we assume it to be wrong whether or not it is pragmatic, a person who tries to display a sense of logic is considered as an "enemy" to the religion and its fellow believers. Marx said "Religion is the opium of the masses" i say "Opium kills slowly".

Ironically people who claim to be "Holier than thou" are actually all hypocrites. How many people actually practice prophecies of their religion? I bet theres not a single person that follows his religion totally. Y then do we need to be bound by religion and god? Y cant we just be good civil, humane people ? Y cant we just take the best and leave the rest? Why are people so dogmatic? why cant people live their own lives? I believe every one has the right to live the way he wants as long as it doesn't affect others. My freedom ends where your nose starts

I do agree there is a supernatural force behind the creation of this "ooh so perfect universe" but why do we perceive this force as a person, a superhuman who listens to and answers our prayers. May be its mother nature that we perceive as god, and shed blood in her name.
